The Boot : Vintage 18ct Gold Boot Charm made by UnoAErre of Italy

A darling vintage gold charm of a child’s shoe or boot, made in 18ct gold by famous Italian jewellery designers UnoAErre. Circa 1970s, this sweet little charm is in perfect condition.

Little shoes are often gifted as a commemoration of a new addition to the family. I have two little shoes on my own charm bracelet, one for each of my children. While this charm was undoubtedly created with only celebration in mind, it does make me think of an Australian colloquialism.

In Australia, to give someone “the boot” is to get rid of them unceremoniously, as in to be “shown the door”. Contrary to The Simpson’s episode there is no corporal punishment intent, it’s just a little metaphorical kick up the bum for bad behaviour. And now that’s a thing you know.

Manufacture: 
Modelled in 18ct yellow gold, hallmarked 750 to the loop of the charm, along with the makers mark UnoAErre, and the Italian regional hallmark 1 AR for Arezzo, Italy.

Measures 16.9mm x 8.22mm x6.05mm.
Weighs 1.96 grams.

The jump ring is pushed closed, but not soldered.
