Think Of Me : Antique 15ct Gold Pansy Charm

Converted from an antique stick pin, this cheery little golden flower is a pansy. In the Victorian Era pansy’s were synonymous with the sentiment “think of me” and appeared on love tokens of all descriptions. Pansy sounds a lot like the French word pensée which translates as ‘to think’ or ‘to remember’. Objects featuring pansy’s were often given as sentimental gifts between family, friends and lovers. In the days before telephone calls and airplanes having a physical object to remember a loved one had great meaning and poignance. Pansy jewellery is a rarity and highly collectable. I have seen some incredible enamelled pansy brooches and charms, but I’ve never seen a three dimensional gold pansy before. A rare little flower, and such a cutie.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 15ct gold with incredible attention to detail. The pansy is formed in three dimensions, the topmost petals have a stippled texture, with the remaining three in a bright smooth finish, with the crinkly details and raised central stamen that pansy flowers are known for.

There are no hallmarks present, but XRF tests confirm 15ct gold.

Delicately converted from a stick pin with a new 9ct loop and bail, this little flower sits close to the chest when worn.

Measures 13.37mm x 9.65mm x 4.11mm.
Weighs 0.88 grams.
