Description
Circa 1920s and handmade in 18ct yellow gold with a platinum top. The rectangular face of the ring is divided into vertical stripes, with each section separated by a rail of milgrain edged platinum. The gemstones are arranged with diamonds in sets of two and sapphires in sets of three, with three diamond stripes and two sapphire stripes. The diamonds are individually bead set, with the square carré cut sapphires rail set for a seamless stripe of delicious cornflower blue. A stylish saw pierced gallery allows the maximum amount of light to reach the gemstones for a brilliant display of colour and sparkle. The upswept shoulders lead into a classic 1.76mm wide half-round band in 18ct yellow gold, stamped 18ct & P to the inside of the band, for 18ct gold and Platinum.
All gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist.
The six old European Cut diamonds are all natural and graded as G-I in colour and Vs-Si in clarity. Each diamond is approximately 2.5mm in diameter with a combined weight of approximately .40 carat.
The six square carré cut sapphires are predominantly natural, with one that may be an early lab made, or verneuil sapphire. It was not uncommon for natural and created gems to be combined during this period – the jewellers primary concern was for the stones to be evenly matched in colour, and in this they have done exceptionally.
The face of the ring measures 14.09mm x 6.65mm.
Sits 2.96mm high on the finger.
