Streamlined Geometry : Art Deco Diamond Ring in Platinum and 18ct Gold

The essence of the Art Deco period in one tidy package, this ring embodies the bold lines, symmetry and geometric styling of the 1930s. I’ve never met a diamond solitaire that packs so much of the spirit of modernism that the period is revered for into such a small surface.

Is it a solitaire or a trilogy ring? There are three single cut diamonds set into the platinum surface, one in the head of the ring and one in each shoulder. You might think of it as a solitaire with two supporting diamonds, or a trilogy ring representing the past, present and future.

The point of difference that sets this ring apart from the hundreds of others made in the interwar period is the use of geometry in its platinum surfaces. The shoulders are angled and impressed with fine details to highlight the shapes. The single cut diamonds are bead set and framed with delicate detailing. This is a ring unlike any other I’ve seen, a very special piece.

Manufacture: 
Handmade in platinum and 18ct yellow gold, hallmarked 18ct PLAT to the inside of the band, along with a numerical design code.

The centre diamond is round single cut and measures 2.8mm in diameter, approximately 0.1 carats. The shoulders are each set with a single cut diamond of 1.5mm, bringing the total diamond carat weight to 0.13 carats.

The platinum face of the ring measures 5.6mm x 5.7mm. The ring sits 3.7mm high on the finger, a comfortable low profile. A saw pierced gallery in 18ct yellow gold allows the maximum amount of light to penetrate the diamond to enhance its sparkle.
The pyramid shaped platinum shoulders lead to a classic half round band of 2mm width.

Condition: 
In excellent vintage condition with no signs of repair or resize. I have had the platinum polished to restore it’s chrome-like lustre. All diamonds have had their settings checked and refreshed where needed. Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
