Mermaid Magic : Vintage Boulder Opal Earrings with Diamonds in 14ct Yellow Gold

Magic beans. I think if you planted one of these a whole universe might grow, but who could bear to hide them in the dirt when they shine so bright in the light! Tropical oceans and bright coral reefs come to mind when looking at the shifting hues inside these bright Queensland boulder opal earrings – predominantly bright blue and green with flashes of pink and yellow. A small brilliant cut diamond sits atop each freeform opal, but I have to say its sparkle is outshined by the opals, they are ~powerful~.
These drop earrings are fashioned in 14ct yellow gold and date to the late 20th Century.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 14ct yellow gold, hallmarked to the reverse with two fineness stamps: 14k and 585. Each earring hangs from a handmade shepherds hook.
The opals are solid Queensland boulder opal, perfectly matched in shape and spectrum. Each of the freeform opal is rounded triangular in shape. They are set in rub-over bezels, and topped with a 2mm diameter brilliant cut diamond in it’s own white gold topped bezel setting.
The earrings have a drop of 34.4mm.
The opals measure approximately 17mm x 8.4mm x 3mm.
