Love & Roses : Vintage Floral Wide Buckle Ring with Ruby Accents in 9ct Gold

AU$850Approximately US$558

An absolutely stunning wide buckle ring in 9ct yellow gold, covered in foliate details and set with three small natural rubies. At fist glance this ring has the appearance of an early Victorian Era buckle ring smothered in repoussé and chased roses, however I believe this piece is an especially good 1970’s reproduction, likely from a cast of an original antique ring.

Buckle rings were favourites as wedding and promise bands for the tender hearted Victorians, the buckle motif represented eternity and fidelity – two ends joined as one. Roses had various meanings depending on the colour, but generally were for love and happiness. Then as now: rubies are synonymous with passionate love.

Manufacture:
Cast manufacture with a beguiling 9 hallmark inside a shield shape on the inside of the band.
Weighs a hefty 4.61 grams.

The three rubies measure approx. 1.5mm each. They have been verified as natural rubies by an independent gemologist.

8.44mm wide at the buckle, 7.24mm wide around the rest of the band.

You can see a short video of this ring on my Instagram account @secret_histories, or online here (It’s the third slide).

Size:
M or 6.25 on the mandrel, but fits more like a L – L 1/2 or 5.75 – 6 due to the width of the band..
Not resizable due to the rose details.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. Ready for immediate wear.
