Description
A new one-of-a-kind chrysoprase chalcedony jellyfish intaglio carved by master craftsperson Susannah Gai in a vintage mid 20th Century filigree setting by Wendts of Adelaide in 9ct. The carving is delicate yet makes a fine impression in wax.
The intaglio is carved into a slightly domed 14.64mm x 13mm oval cut semi-opaque chrysoprase cabochon which shifts between mossy green and apple green hues depending on the light.
The vintage mount is handmade in 9ct gold, hallmarked 9ct Wendts to the inside of the band. The filigree undercarriage is delicately hand pierced with fan shapes and long double claws. The fine and delicate filigree work suggests the ring is circa 1930s, but this style was popular though to the 1960s so it’s difficult for me to circa date with confidence.
Sits 5,45mm high on the finger.
Weighs 3.18 grams.
