Noble Keepsake : Victorian Era Red Guilloché Enamel Brooch Locket with Foliate Engraving and Seed Pearls

♥Sold♥

Very sweet and decidedly royal in appearance, this striking brooch was made in the late Victorian Era in 9ct gold. In addition to the gorgeous engine turned (guilloché) red enamel and the hand engraved foliate border, this brooch has a hidden locket compartment at the reverse. Perhaps most unusual of all is its condition – as this darling sweetheart appears as if it has never been worn. The original paper is still inside the locket compartment, and there’s not a scratch or dent to be found anywhere!

The oversized pin, tube hinge and c clasp are all hallmarks of Victorian Era brooches, enabling this piece to be confidently dated to the late 1800s. It is modelled in 9ct gold, verified by xrf test. The locket compartment can be gently teased away from the body of the brooch, allowing the new owner to place a photograph or small item behind the original oval glass panel, which remains in as-new condition despite it’s over 100 years of age.

A dear and striking treasure, it has waited a very long time to hold a special keepsake – was it waiting for you?

Manufacture:
Modelled in 9ct gold with a red guilloché enamel field surrounded by a hand engraved border with folitate designs. The enamel field is embellished with a raised trefoil design set with three seed pearls. The trefoil can be rotated.

No hallmarks are present, the gold content has been verified by XRF test.

Weighs 3.27 grams.
