Nothing quite says Summer like a bucket and spade (aka a shovel and pail). My mum always says the first sign of summer is “rude nudies” on the beach – toddlers in their birthday suits splashing in the shallows. Always a welcome and happy sight. I know I have loads of fond memories making sand castles with my family, building moats and flooding them with buckets of sea water. Or building forts near the tide line, then waiting for the waves to come and inundate us. This great little charm is a homage to innocence and time spent outdoors.

Manufacture:
Modelled in 9ct yellow gold, this set of vintage charms have a full set of English hallmarks. Both the bucket and spade are hallmarked with the makers mark A&W and the fineness mark 9.375 for 9ct gold. The base of the bucket has the additional hallmarks for the assay office of Birmingham and the date letter “Q” for 1965/66.

The bucket measures 15.45mm  10.71mm x 8.38mm.
The spade measures 19.45mm x 5.15mm x 1.51mm.
Weight 2.31 grams.

The charms are held together by a 9ct gold jump ring that is pushed closed.
