A sweet intaglio ring in the Romanesque style, dating to 1922 with a charming purple chalcedony intaglio of a woman in profile.
Modelled in 9ct gold, the ring is hallmarked to the inside of the band with a full set of British hallmarks for 9ct gold, Birmingham, 1922. The round chalcedony is held in a rub-over setting. The ring is in the style of ancient signet but both the ring and the intaglio date to the early 20th Century
The chalcedony has been verified by an independent gemologist. It measures approximately 8.7mm x 8.7mm x 3.5mm. It is beveled around the circumference with the intaglio carved into the flat top. The underside of the gem is domed en cabochon, which is possibly why the stone has such a beautiful glow.
The face of the ring measures 9.7mm x 10.2mm.
