Unicorn Magic : Art Deco Two Tone Engraved Wedding Band in 18ct Gold and Palladium by Willis & Sons

♥Sold♥

I’ve never seen another like it 💟 Made by one of Australia’s longest running family jewellery business’ Willis & Sons of Melbourne, whose hallmark is the unicorn 🦄 in 18ct yellow gold and palladium. This delicious and weighty two tone Art Deco ring is circa 1940, and features scrolled engraving at each edge in yellow gold, with a silvery band of palladium running through the middle. Although absolutely splendid as your one & done, everyday no fuss band, it’s also the perfect romantic accompaniment to an Art Deco engagement ring. Unfortunately this sugar can’t be resized, so it’s a cinderella situation: are you her perfect fit?

Manufacture:
Modelled in 18ct yellow gold and palladium, hallmarked inside the band with the marks 18ct and PALL for 18ct gold and Palladium. The unicorn head hallmark registered to Willis & Sons of Melbourne is also present, I have turned the photo of the hallmark sideways to make the unicorn a little easier to make out. .The marks RD. PEND. can also be seen inside the band, these are short for Registered Design Pending, which was an attempt by the company to prevent the design being appropriated by other makers (and it seems to have worked! I’ve not seen its like).

The 18ct gold sides of the ring have a scrolled pattern that is symmetrical on each side. The pattern continues all the way around the ring, making it unsuitable for resizing.

The ring is slightly convex on the outside with chamfered edges on the inside for comfort. The ring is 3.24mm wide and 1.25mm thick.
Weighs 2.5 grams.

Size:
Size N or 6.75
not resizable

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with signs of wear commensurate with age. Some softening of the engraved scroll details, but no thinning of the band or signs of resize. Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
