Desire Lines : Art Deco Amethyst Dangle and Drop Earrings in 9ct Yellow Gold

♥Sold♥

Easy, breezy, long and dangly. These articulated earrings date to the Art Deco period, circa 1920, and feature round cut amethyst gemstones in bezel settings with minute milgrain edging, dangling from long double rails of 9ct gold. New 9ct gold hooks have been handmade for these delicate drops so that they hang perfectly from your lobes.

You can see a short video of these earrings on my Instagram account @secret_histories, or online here.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 9ct yellow gold, there are no hallmarks present but the metal content has been verified by XRF test. I suspect these may once have been screw-back earrings, as so many earrings from this period were, but when I found them they had inadequate mass-produced ear wires – which were incorrect for the style and improperly weighted. I’ve had new 9ct gold hooks handmade so that they hang just-so when worn.

The faceted round cut amethysts have been verified as natural gemstones by an independent gemologist. They are a pale lavender hue with hints of pink – a shade referred to as “Rose de France”. The gemstones display a natural colour shift in different intensities of light.  The amethysts have a diameter of 6.6mm.

Total drop is 37mm
Weighs 1.82 grams (pair)

Condition:
Excellent. Completely refurbished and ready for immediate and everyday wear.
