Always & Passionately : Australian Antique Ruby and Old Cut Diamond Trilogy Ring in 18ct

♥Sold♥

An abundance of sentimentality surrounds every element of this gorgeous piece of Australian jewellery history, each element a profession of undying love and adoration. The three gemstones in a trilogy ring such as this one represent the past, present and future – the choice of glowing natural rubies and bright old cut diamonds was more than a matter of taste – rubies representing passionate love and the diamond for infinity. The three gemstones together can be understood to be a promise of passionate love yesterday and tomorrow; today and forever.

Made in Australia in the early years of the 20th Century, Circa 1910. This ring is full of promise for the future. The gemstones are set in platinum coronet settings with the bypass style shank in 18ct gold. The white metal sets off the deep kiss-me-quick pink rubies and the old mine cut diamond. The bypass style band is a nod to the Art Nouveau movement with its symmetry and flowing organic lines. I especially love the golden bauble flourishes at the ends.

Hallmarked to the inside of the band with unmistakably early Australian style hallmarks of a star, 18, star. These marks are attributed to Larard Brothers, one of the finest early Australian jewellery companies, established as Larard & Sons in 1874.
