Garland of Joy : Belle Époque Rubellite Tourmaline, Diamond and Pearl Necklace

♥Sold♥

The Belle Époque or “Golden Years” is a period of European history characterised by optimism, regional peace, prosperity, and innovations from 1880 to 1914. It coincides with the late Victorian and Edwardian Eras in English history. Jewellery from this period was a reflection of the times – pieces were lighthearted and graceful.

This darling necklace is quintessentially Belle Epoque, circa 1900. Originally a brooch, I have converted it to a necklace with the addition of a fine vintage trace chain.

The star of the piece is a deep pinky red, cushion cut rubellite tourmaline, set into a bezel of rosy gold. On either side flowing bows are studded with rose cut diamonds and small natural ocean pearls. Between each bow stretches a garland of leaves with a central flower, again set with rose cut diamonds with an additional pearl at the centre of the flower. The ribbons and floral elements are modelled in silver over 9ct gold.

Exquisitely made with the finest quality jewels.

Manufacture:
Modelled in 9ct gold and silver with a fine 9ct gold trace chain. There are no hallmarks present, but the metals have been confirmed by XRF test. The trace chain is hallmarked 375 to the spring ring clasp.

The natural rubellite tourmaline gemstone measures approx. 5.6mm x 6.3mm.
The 26 rose cut diamonds vary in size and shape, but are each approximately 1mm in diameter.
The three natural ocean pearls are round with a creamy lustre. Two of the pearls are 2.8mm in diameter, with one at 2.3mm.
All gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist.

The necklace has a drop of 42mm. The pendant section is 33.4mm wide and 5.16mm deep.
The chain length is 48cm (18.9″) and closes with a spring ring.
Weighs 3.94 grams.

Condition:
Excellent. Ready for immediate wear.
