Flying Saucer : 1960’s “Space Age” Solid White Opal Ring in Rose Gold

♥Sold♥

A classic midcentury style, this ring dates to the 1960s Space-Age chic. A high domed oval opal cabochon of solid Australian white opal sits in a saucer of rosy 9ct gold. The opal looks very much like it is from Andamooka in South Australia, beneath the highly polished surface bright shades of orange, green and yellow shift and pulse. The photos don’t begin to do this lively opal justice.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 9ct rose gold and hallmarked 9ct to the inside of the band. The solid opal cabochon is set into a bezel of rose gold, with a saucer of gold flaring out from the base of the setting. The band is 3.6mm wide for the entire perimeter.
The face of the ring measures 15.31mm x 10.55mm.
Sits 5.33mm high on the finger.
Weighs 2.12 grams

The solid white opal cabochon measures approximately 12.19mm x 7.6mm x 4.1mm – about 2.15 carats.
