Dragon Rider: Vintage Forest Green Tourmaline Tank Ring with Diamond Halo

♥Sold♥

Strong and powerful, yet graceful and alluring, this striking one-of-a-kind vintage tank ring featured a forest green baguette cut tourmaline surrounded by a halo of fine white diamonds, circa 1980s. The “tank” styling harkens back to the bold gem-set tank rings of the 1940s, which were a strong influence for the geometric and somewhat brutalist styled androgynous statement rings of the 1980s.

The deep forest green of the tourmaline is complimented with lashings of 9ct yellow gold, modelled with raised geometric chevrons that travel down both sides of the ring, the gold surface inside the raised areas is covered with scale-like patterns.

Manufacture:
Hand made in 9ct yellow gold, the central natural baguette cut forest green tourmaline is in a rub-over setting at the centre of the east-west rectangular face of the ring. It is surrounded by a halo of grain set brilliant cut diamonds. The back of the ring is closed, and in direct light reflections from the interior gold surface of the ring are reflected back through the tourmaline with the appearance of golden sparks.

The gemstones have all been verified as natural by an independent gemologist.
The tourmaline measures approximately 12.4mm x 4.3mm – about 1.3 carats.
The 32 brilliant cut diamonds have a diameter of 1mm – with an approximate total weight of 0.16 carats.

The face of the ring measures 18.04mm x 8.32mm, sits 3.46mm high on the finger. Tapers to 2.23mm at the back of the band.
Weighs 9.64 grams.
