True Love : Victorian Era Heart Stick Pin in 9ct with Seed Pearls

♥Sold♥

Oh those dear sentimental Victorians, not able to speak openly of their emotions but encouraged to show their affection in a million and one coded messages and symbols.

This very sweet late Victorian stick pin, circa 1870, is modelled in 9ct gold throughout and set with 12 creamy seed pearls, all in excellent condition and well matched in colour. Pearls were used to represent innocence, and therefore this open heart could be thought to represent pure or true love.

Manufacture:
Modelled in 9ct gold throughout, this piece has no hallmarks but the metal content has been verified by XRF test. The 12 natural split seed pearls are bead set into the pin. They all appear to be original and are in excellent condition with no loss of nacre.

The head of the pin measures 11.92mm x 10.96mm x 2.24mm.
The pin itself is 54.58mm long and 1.35mm thick.
Weighs 1.76 grams

Comes with an antique box, as pictured.

Condition:
Excellent. The only fault to note is a slight wobble towards the bottom of the pin, which could be straightened out without much trouble if desired.
