Time Traveller : Art Deco Engraved Eternity Band in 18ct White and Yellow Gold

♥Sold♥

It blows my mind every time I find a ring that’s spent the best part of a century waiting for someone to love it.
This original Art Deco ring has quite literally never been worn. Australian hallmarks for early 20th century jewellery firm Apex can be found on the inside of the band, dating the ring to between 1920 – 1948, when the company rebranded as Rodd. The Apex brand was synonymous with top quality jewellery, and was one of the leading jewellery manufacturers in Australia in the early to mid 20th Century, by which time they had expanded their offerings to include silverware and other fine tableware for elegant soirees. The patterning on this ring, along with its square profile, dates the band to the late Art Deco era, circa 1930s.

Manufacture:
Modelled in 18ct yellow gold with white gold plates on the face of the band that continue in an unbroken pattern. Each of the rectangular plates is fashioned in an illusion design mimicking the diamond eternity rings which were the height of fashion at the time. The white metal is cleverly faceted to catch the light and sparkle much like a diamond set band would. Little peeks of yellow gold are visible between each of the rectangular white gold plates, each one outlined with milgrain.
The yellow gold sides of the ring are hand engraved in a scrolling Art Deco motif, it is as crisp as the day it was made.

The band is 2.23mm wide and sits 1.65mm high on the finger.
Weighs 2.72 grams.

Size Q or 8.25.
Not resizable.

Condition:
Outstanding. This ring is “brand new old stock” – made during the 1930s but miraculously unworn. In perfect condition, ready for immediate and everyday wear.
