Snow Queen : Art Deco Aquamarine & Rose Cut Diamond Dome Ring in 18ct

♥Sold♥

An original Art Deco Era ring, set with a central pale blue natural aquamarine in a hand pierced dome setting studded with rose cut diamonds. The natural pale blue amethyst is so bright and clear that it can be easily mistaken for a diamond.

All the glamour of the Belle Epoque period is embodied in this charming jewel, which bears more than a little Edwardian influence. Even the choice of metals suggest that this ring dates from about 1915 (slightly earlier than Art Deco). White gold was not invented until 1919, previous to this silver was the metal of choice to set diamonds ablaze until the use of platinum was perfected – and even then not all jewellers had the tools necessary to work with platinum, so silver was still much used in high end jewels.

This ring is arresting in its deceptive simplicity, exquisitely made with love and tenderness as well as skill and passion. An heirloom jewel you can wear every day.
