Punchy Purple Pop : Vintage Amethyst Drop Earrings in 9ct Yellow Gold

There’s nothing wishy-washy about the deep purple natural amethysts in these earrings 💜 Perfect pops of deeply saturated purple shine forth from the centre of these easy to wear, vintage drop earrings. Amethysts in this shade are often referred to as “Siberian amethyst”, which is the origin of the amethysts most prized in antiquity for their rich and regal hue.

Such a classic design makes these earrings tricky to date: the 9ct hallmarks on the hooks suggest mid 20th Century – between 1950 – 1970, but the bezel setting was popular in the 1920s, too (although usually lighter in construction at that time).

Manufacture: 
Made in 9ct yellow gold, the earrings are stamped 9ct on the hooks, and have been XRF tested to verify the gold content.

The round cut amethysts have been verified as natural by an independent gemologist. They each have a diameter of approximately 7mm, and an approximate carat weight of 3/4 carat each.

Each amethyst is set into a tapered bezel setting with a loop at the top. The ear wires hook through this loop, giving the earrings fantastic movement when worn, allowing the gemstones to shimmer and twinkle.

The earrings have a total drop of 25mm.
Weigh 2.32 grams (pair).
