A darling little micro mosaic crescent moon, filled with tiny white daisies. This antique charm dates to the early 20th Century circa 1920, or possibly earlier. It was quite likely purchased in Italy as a souvenir of someone’s Grand Tour.
White daisies symbolise innocence, and a waxing (new) crescent moon is for new beginnings. Daisies were my Grandma’s favourite flower and are fast becoming one of mine too – they are so joyful and will thrive almost anywhere with very little attention, very resilient.
The white daisies stand out against the ochre background of the mosaic, the combination of colours and symbols is just so adorable I fell in love with it instantly, and I hope you will, too.
Manufacture:
The charm is fashioned in gilt metal with a 9ct loop at the top. The crescent moon shape is filled with a micro mosaic of daisy flowers in an ochre field. The tesserae are of very fine quality and in excellent condition.
The charm measures 18.6mm x 15.5mm x 3.73mm
Weighs 1.72 grams.
