The necklace fastens with a barrel clasp and has a 9c hallmark plate, however it XRF tests as 16ct gold.

An antique rope chain necklace in a rich 18ct golden hue, dating to the Victorian Era . This wonderful necklace has a lot of presence without a lot of weight, thanks to the ingenious rope link. A perfect solo or layering piece, it looks good when worn with a pendant or on its own. A very versatile antique chain.
Manufacture:
The necklace has a 9c hallmark plate found next to the barrel clasp, however both the chain and barrel clasp XRF test as 16ct gold. I suspect this is either a 9ct gold chain that has been heavily gilded in 18ct, or perhaps it’s 15ct chain with the wrong hallmark on it – either are possible. In any case it pairs wonderfully well with 18ct gold pendants, as seen in the photographs.
The necklace measures 41cm (16.14″) long and 2.6mm wide.
Weighs 4.24 grams.
