Wandering Star : Vintage Blue Star Sapphire Ring

♥Sold♥

Star sapphires have to be the most magical of natural gemstones. Watching the star wander just under the silky surface of a cabochon cut sapphire is absolutely mesmerising and deeply delightful. The star phenomena, also known as asterism is a rare, naturally occurring curiosity found in some cabochon cut sapphires.  The asterism effect is formed by the arrangement of tiny needle-like inclusions inside the stone, which also give the gemstone its silky appearance. Under a direct light source – like the sun or a light bulb – the star will appear and travel over the surface of the ring in response to the light source. I have seen up to 3 stars appear in this sapphire. The stars in star sapphires can be small and wobbly, or large with well defined straight rays like the one in this vintage ring, which is of the highest quality.

This unisex signet ring is designed to support the incredible 7.5 carat blue star sapphire. It’s a comfortable ring to wear, with a smooth flat-rounded band that sweeps up to a deep rub-over oval bezel setting.
