Fizzing with hot pink sparkly energy, this antique piece by early Australian jewellers Aronson & Co. dates to the 1900s and is quintessentially Edwardian in style.

Aronson & Co. were one of Australia’s leading jewellery firms, known for their exquisite jewels to suit all budget. Their pieces ranged from absolute high end luxury to more affordable treasures made with the same care and attention to detail. This piece is all about that divine hot pink colour, made possible by pink lead crystal. Lead crystal is known for its hardness and brilliance, the pinky red colour is achieved by adding gold to the molten crystal.

Manufacture: 
Handmade in 9ct gold with a series of makers marks found on the stem of the drop for Aronson & Co. 9ct gold. A 9c hallmark can also be found on the antique barrel clasp.

The oval cut pink lead crystal stone is set east-west in a multi-pronged coronet setting. From it is suspended a rail of gold, terminating at a pear cut pink lead crystal stone, again set in a multi-pronged coronet setting. The pendant section is held on a captive chain and closes with an antique barrel clasp.

The gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist as pink lead crystal. The oval cut stone measures 11.75mm x 8.2mm. The pear cut stone measures 14.25mm x 7.95mm.

The necklace is 42cm (16.5″) in length with a drop of 49.3mm.

Condition: 
Good antique condition. Under magnification there are several small chips and scratches present, but nothing that detracts from the appearance of the jewel when worn.
