Yesterday Today Tomorrow : Edwardian Era Old Cut Diamond Trilogy Ring in 18ct Gold

♥Sold♥

Old cut diamonds are not known for their dazzling fire – but there’s always at least one exception to every rule, and this stunning ring is definitely an exceptionally sparkly. Originally this would have been worn as an engagement ring, but makes a lovely stacking or right hand ring.

Manufacture:
Three hand cut “old mine” diamonds are set in individual coronet settings along an elegant 18ct yellow gold band. The diamonds are irregularly shaped and difficult to measure accurately, but their combined carat weight is around 1/2 carat. Each of the stones has a diameter of approximately 3.6mm.

The centre diamond is bright and white, with the two side diamonds being warmer in tone but equally lively. They are eye-clean, but some inclusions can be seen under magnification. It is not typical to apply modern diamond gradings to old cut stones, but if you find it helpful my gemologist has graded the centre stone as K-M in colour and the side stones as N-P. While ‘champagne’ is not something that a gemologist will grade a diamond as (it’s not recognised by gemological institutions – rather promoted by various diamond mines) the side stones are warm enough to be considered “light champagne”. The combination of stones is absolutely delightful.

The elegant 18ct gold band is 2.3mm wide at the shoulders, tapering to 1.92mm at the back of the band. It is 1.9mm thick at the shoulders, tapering to 0.98 at the back of the band.

Hallmarked 18ct to the inside of the band. This style was popular in Australia during the Edwardian Era and is likely Australian made.

Weighs 2.2 grams

Size P 1/4 or 8
resizable

Condition:
In excellent antique condition. I have had some of the claws re-tipped to ensure all of the diamonds are safely set and the ring will be wearable for decades without needing attention. Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
