Vintage Bride : Midcentury Marquise and Baguette Diamond Engagement Ring

♥Sold♥

Understated elegance was a signature look in much of the fashion from the middle of the 20th Century, this stunning diamond engagement ring encapsulates the zeitgeist of that era to perfection. Circa 1940 -1950, this classic ring is a diminutive take on an iconic jewel produced by the famous French luxury jewellery house Van Cleef and Arpels in the 1940s.

Manufacture:
The three fine white diamonds are set in platinum on an 18ct yellow gold band.
The central marquise cut diamond has been graded by an independent gemologist while in the mount as Si in clarity and H-J in colour. It measures 6.5 x 3.5mm – approximately 40 points.
The tapered baguette diamonds measure 3.2mm x 1.8mm and are Vs – Si in clarity, H-J in colour.
The total diamond carat weight is approximately 50 points or 1/2 carat.

The low profile platinum face of the ring leads to a 2mmmm 18ct yellow gold band, slightly pinched at the shoulders. The ring has a lovely easy to wear low profile, sitting 3.3mm high on the finger. It weighs 1.6 grams.

Hallmarked to the inside of the band with both 750 and 18k and the makers mark SR. Likely made in the USA. I haven’t been able to identify the maker, however the style of the cartouche is similar to other East Coast jewellery houses of the period. The combination of 750 and 18k also suggests American origin.

Size O or 7.25
resizable

Condition:
In fantastic vintage condition – the diamonds are free from chips and scratches. The settings have been newly re-tipped and the ring is ready for another lifetime of love and daily wear.
