Verdant Oasis : Natural Colombian Emerald and Diamond Art Deco Ring

♥Sold♥

The rarest of the the rare – a stunning, bright mid green natural Colombian Emerald with no enhancements, surrounded by a halo of diamonds in an exquisitely handmade Art Deco setting. Emeralds are amongst the rarest of gemstones and this emerald is of the highest quality – under magnification a sought after treacle-like inclusion known as “Gota de Aceite” can be seen which provides an desirable light dispersion effect, and also indicates the stone’s origin as Colombia. This emerald has been hand cut, it has had no treatments at all, not even oil! A deeply saturated and stunning natural gemstone.

Manufacture: Surrounding the .45 carat emerald cut emerald is a halo of single cut and Old European Cut diamonds of G-H colour and VS-P1 clarity with a combined carat weight of .28 carats. The stones are set into a handmade platinum topped 18ct yellow gold ring, made by Baskin Brothers of New York City. The ring is Art Deco in style, circa 1920 -1930’s.

The undercarriage of the ring is every bit as pretty and elegant as the face, featuring delicate hand-pierced scallops which allow as much light as possible to pass through the stones for maximum colour and sparkle. The half-round yellow gold shank splits in to an upswept triple V at the shoulders.

The face of the ring measures 10mm x 8.5mm. The ring sits 5mm high on the finger.
Currently a size P 1/2 or 8 and fully resizable.
Weighs 2.5 grams

Condition: Under magnification there is some slight wear and tear on the facets of the gemstones, as would be expected in a ring of this vintage. There is also some rubbing to the platinum milgrain, again to be expected in a vintage ring. Upon close inspection it can be seen that the emerald has not been set with the table facet completely parallel with the face of the ring. My jeweller tells me this is because of the cut of the stone and is not something that should be altered, but is noted here for transparency. The ring is in beautiful condition and ready for immediate and everyday wear.

An independent appraisal for AU$3830 is included.
