The Scintillator : Victorian Old Cut Diamond Row Ring in 18ct Gold

♥Sold♥

Sounds a bit naughty, doesn’t it?

Scintillation is the word used by gemologists to describe a diamond’s sparkle. The five old cut babes in this Victorian Era ring have scintillation to spare – I can (and have) played all day and all night with the incredible glitter that this ring throws both in daylight and artificial light. Moonlight, candlelight, you name it – if there’s a glimmer it will catch it, multiply it and throw it playfully back at you.

Crafted in 18k yellow gold with a hint of rose colour, the ring has a gently graduated width. The row of ‘buttercup’ settings are just delightful and hold the lovely sparkly stones in such a way as to allow maximum light to reach all surfaces for full sparkle effect. The prongs of the ring are all in excellent original condition.

All of these diamonds are of excellent quality even by today’s diamond standards, they have been graded as VS1 – SI in clarity, with a colour range from F-I. They have a a conservative combined weight of 1/2 a carat. This is very rare – old cut diamonds are not known for having fantastic clarity or colour – it wasn’t a thing that was sought after in the time this ring was made, and usually isn’t relevant in antique diamond rings.

The face of the ring measures 17.5mm across the finger, and is 6.1mm wide. The diamonds range from 3mm – 2.8mm in diameter. The ring weighs 2.9 grams. It is in all original condition with no signs of repair or resize. It has been professionally cleaned and is ready for immediate wear.
