The Light of the Silvery Moon : Vintage Handmade Moonstone Earrings

♥Sold♥

These earrings make me think of moonlit reflections on a lake, the ripples of the water catching and reflecting the light of a beautiful full moon on a clear, frosty night.

Handmade in sterling silver with central natural moonstone cabochons, and fully hallmarked to the reverse for Sterling Silver, London 1986 with the makers mark for Amanda Birkitt: a designer silversmith known for creating individual works of art in precious metals. Each of her pieces is a handmade one of a kind original.

The moonstones have been verified as natural moonstones by my gemologist. They have a deep and mysterious silver grey hue and a luminous adularescence. Each of the moonstones has a diameter of approx. 8mm.

The earrings measure 28mm in diameter and weigh 9.5 grams for the pair. They are lovely to wear – not too light or too large. They are contemporary with a nod towards modern celtic design, a theme that can be seen in much of Ms Birkitt’s work.
