Symmetry : Early Australian Art Deco Diamond Ring by Harris & Sprunt in Platinum Topped 18ct Gold

Sold

An Early Australian Art Deco jewel of the highest calibre. Made by the firm Harris & Sprunt who traded in Melbourne from 1913-1925 and were highly regarded for their stone set gold jewellery. This ring makes it easy to see why – the craftsmanship is Beyond. The use of negative space is exceptional. It’s a perfectly proportioned, beautifully designed and masterfully executed example of Art Deco jewellery and I’m thrilled to be able to offer it in my shop.

Along with being remarkably chic this ring is very easy to wear and would make an ideal engagement ring. Its delicate sparkle in all lighting conditions is enormously endearing without being over the top.

Manufacture:
The ring features seven early brilliant cut natural diamonds. The centre diamond is approximately 3mm in diameter (.10 carat), surrounded by six 2 – 2.5mm diamonds. A further four 1mm old cut diamonds nestled into the shoulders, bringing the ring’s approximate total carat weight to over 1/3 of a carat. The diamonds have been verified as natural untreated diamonds by an independent gemologist, who has graded the diamonds as Vs -Si clarity and F-G in colour. Each of the stones is securely bead set in platinum, and each section has been picked out with minute milgrain detail which remains crisp.

Modelled in 18ct yellow gold with platinum top and shoulders, hallmarked for both Platunim and 18ct to the inside of the ring, along with the adorable makers mark of an elephant employed by Harris & Sprunt. Weighs 2.6 grams.

The face of the ring measures 12mm x 7.15mm, not including the shoulders. The ring has a lovely low profile sitting 2.6mm high on the finger.

In absolutely magical antique condition, this ring was clearly saved for “best” by its previous owner and shows only the most gentle signs of wear. Professionally cleaned and polished, it is ready for immediate everyday wear.
