Sweethearts : Victorian Repoussé “Puffy Heart” Earrings in Sterling Silver

♥Sold♥

Sterling Silver three-dimensional “puffy heart” earrings from the Victorian Era, circa 1890.
These lovely light earrings were handmade using the repoussé technique whereby a pattern is pushed into the metal from the reverse. They are hollow and feature the same pattern on both sides.

The hearts hang on what appear to be their original shepherds hooks. They are delightful to wear – almost weightless but with lovely movement. A sweet pair of everyday earrings.

The earrings are unmarked, but test as sterling silver. Classic examples of late Victorian silver jewellery in excellent antique condition.

The earrings have a 27mm drop, the hearts measure 12.6mm x 11mm x 5.7mm
They weigh 2.6 grams for the pair.
