Royal Mail : Vintage Pillar Box Charm in 9ct Gold

♥Sold♥

The Pillar Box is a free standing post box, commonly found in the United Kingdom, and is somewhat of a British cultural icon. It’s also the secret entrance to cartoon character Danger Mouse’s HQ.

The design of the pillar box has not changed much since they were first installed on the streets of Britian in 1852 as a safe and accessable collection point for mail. Despite the basic design remaining the same there are over 150 variants, with special designs for each British monarch. The design of this charm is based on the Elizabeth II pillar box, but if you’d like to know more there’s oodles of information on Wikipedia about our humble friend the pillar box.
