Rooftop Garden : Modernist Emerald and Baguette Diamond Ring in 14ct Gold

♥Sold♥

The fusion of organic and and brutalist lines in this Modernist ring, dating to the second half of the 20th Century circa 1970s, makes me think of gardens amongst skyscrapers. The natural emeralds glow from within while the baguette diamonds sparkle with all their combined might. Held aloft in a stunning 14ct yellow gold, handmade setting. This ring is truly one of a kind and sure to get noticed.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 14ct gold, with rhodium plating under and around the baguette diamonds. Hallmarked to the inside of the band with a makers mark (an 8 or B in a rounded trapezoid), 14 for the fineness mark, and some additional numbers (952) which may be a model or assay mark.
This piece has all the elements of Scandinavian modernist design, but the hallmarks don’t make it clear (to me, at least) the origin of the piece. It has been XRF tested to confirm that the ring is 14ct gold throughout. The colour of the gold is a close match for 22ct, no idea how they managed that, but it is the most deliciously buttery hue.

The upswept design holds the two natural emerald cut emeralds and two baguette cut diamonds in individual settings. The emeralds are set in four clawed settings to allow light to reach all around the mid greed emerald gemstones, allowing them to glow. The diamonds are tension set with rhodium plated surrounds to give the diamonds maximum brilliance and sparkle.

The step cut emeralds are of slightly different sizes. The largest measures approximately 5.3mm x 3.5mm. The other 4.8mm x 3.4. The diamonds are approximately 2.8mm x 2.2mm.

The rings sits 5mm high on the finger – a high setting but not uncomfortably so.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. Under magnification you can see that one of the emeralds has a small chip to one of the corners, which is neatly hidden under one of the claws and not visible to the naked eye.
Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
