Rare & Perfect : 1930s Art Deco Palladium and Single Cut Diamond Eternity Ring

Sold

Finding this divine treasure was a ‘heart leaps into throat’ moment. Even under 90 years of dust I could tell this was a super special treasure. Seeing her come to life after a professional clean and polish with my jeweller was like watching Cinderella arrive at the Prince’s Ball – she is breathtaking! I’m always keen to find an engraved band, but this is the most stunning example I have seen in real life or on the internet. I can’t fault a thing. An immaculate eternity ring featuring over 2/3 of a carat of fine white single cut diamonds in a handmade palladium setting, circa 1930’s, with glorious hand engraved sides.

Manufacture:
Palladium is the rarest and most expensive of the precious metals – at the moment it is worth more than twice the price of platinum, and is more expensive than 24 carat gold. It is hard wearing like platinum but whiter in colour. It was first used in jewellery in the 1930’s when platinum was annexed for military use only. The ring bears no hallmarks but has been XRF tested to verify the precious metal content.

The 22 diamonds are bead set into the ring, which is open at the back to allow the most sparkle. Each diamond is approximately 3 points (.03 of a carat) they range in colour from F – H in colour and Vs-Vvs in clarity.

The ring is 3mm wide and sits 1.8mm high on the finger. It weighs 2.1 grams

Size K 1/4 or 5.5 but may fit a little smaller due to the width.
Not resizable.

Condition:
The ring is entirely handmade and shows very little signs of wear – the diamonds are all in lovely condition, the settings are secure and the engraving is as crisp as the day it was carved. In the past she must have been someone’s very special occasion ring, but is entirely suitable for everyday wear.

You can see a little video of this ring in action on my Instagram @secret_histories, or online here.
