The allure of this ring is in it’s simplicity – the star of the shop is the high quality, beautifully cut antique garnet – all other elements lend their support to let her shine her brightest. The name Garnet comes from the word pomegranate, the colour of this gemstone has long been thought to resemble pomegranate seeds. A stone with a rich history the traverses the globe, this stone is reputed to have a number of beneficial properties including protection from harm; it was exchanged between parting friends to guarantee that they would be reunited. It is the stone of love, light and vitality.
It is also the birthstone for those born in January, and the modern Second Anniversary gemstone.

This ring was handmade around the turn of the 20th Century in Tasmania by early Australian jeweller Frances Flint of Liverpool Street, Hobart.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 9ct rosy gold with a coronet setting and knife edge shoulders leading to a 2.2mm half round shank. The finely cut garnet has a diameter of 6mm, approximately 1 carat in weight. The ring is hallmarked 9ct with makers mark F.A.F. for Frances Flint of Hobart, Tasmania. It weighs 1.9 grams

Condition:
In beautiful antique condition, with minimal signs of wear to the stone or the setting. The ring has been resized at some point in the past, but this is only evident from some slight discolouration to the inside of the ring. It is in excellent antique condition and ready for immediate and everyday wear.
