Oldie Goldie : Wide 22ct Wedding Band Circa 1884

♥Sold♥

Nothing like the glow of old 22ct gold. This 4.5mm wide band is hallmarked for 1884, including the monarchs head duty hallmark. It has a full 137 years of bumps and scratches to create that softest glowing patina 💛 it also means if you look inside you can see some of her storylines – at one point this band was chopped obliquely right through the makers mark – usually a sign of misadventure, having been cut off of a finger due to accident or injury. Usually that would spell The End for a ring, but not this old love! She was lovingly stitched back together and went on to be worn for another lifetime or two, which you can tell by the beautiful deep old patina that covers the outside of the band evenly, giving it a marvellous glow. If only this ring could talk, I wonder what she would tell us!

Manufacture:
This old love is 4.5mm wide, 0.9mm thick and weighs 3.3 grams. Full English Hallmarks for Birmingham 1884.
