Wide gold cigar bands are perennial favourites of mine, it’s lovely to have a big splash of old rose gold on your hand, somehow it just cheers you right up. This band is very slightly convex in the style fashionable in the 1920s. The hallmarks inside the band fit this period, so I would date this ring circa 1920. This faithful friend has crisp hallmarks for 9ct and makers mark J.S. which I haven’t been able to trace. Quite likely Australian in origin.
The band has the glorious soft glowing patina that can only come from decades of age and wear.
