Necklace of Raindrops : Edwardian Era Sterling Silver and Moonstone Necklace

AU$575.00

A most unusual necklace. Dating to the Edwardian Era, or possibly early Art Deco (circa 1901 – 1920) this handmade necklace has been fashioned in Sterling Silver and set with seven high grade moonstone cabochons in coronet settings.

The necklace is designed to fit along your collarbones to striking effect. Three round, high domed cabochons sit between crescents of silver, from each of these crescents extends a rigid ray of silver, with an oval cabochon at its tip. The overall effect is charming and makes quite a statement. So unexpected, and very chic.

There are no hallmarks present on the necklace, but it has been XRF tested and the metal content has been confirmed as 925 Sterling Silver.

There are slight differences in the size of each of the moonstones – this is to be expected in moonstones of this era, each was hand polished to bring out the best qualities in the stone – but the approximate measurements are 8mm in diameter for the round cabochons, and the oval cabochons are around 9.5mm x 7.5mm. The stones are bright and clear, each one with the beautiful blue schiller moonstone lovers seek.

The necklace measures 41.5cm long (16.34″). It weighs 7.4 grams and is in excellent vintage condition, ready for immediate wear.
