Mother Dearest : Antique 15ct and Old Cut Diamond Bangle by Prouds

♥Sold♥

The reverse of this antique 15ct and old cut diamond bangle by early Australian jewellers Prouds is engraved “To Mother”. A push present, perhaps? Did they have those in 1910??

I especially love the negative space around the diamond, the inset catch and the silky smooth gold that’s heavenly on your skin. All the details are flush with the gold, making it a very practical bangle; the lashings of gold and that chunky old cut diamond babe make it a luxury to wear.

Legit practical luxury. Just what every Mother wants.

Manufacture:
Made in 15ct gold, hallmarked 15ct to the inside of the band with makers mark Prouds.
The bangle is of study, hollow construction. Oval in shape it opens with a hinge and fastens with a tongue and groove clasp that sits flush with the bangle. The original safety chain is present.

The bangle is 7mm wide and 2.6mm thick.
The inside of the bangle measures 58.5mm in diameter at the longest point, and 49.9mm at the shortest. The inside circumference is 17cm (approximately 6 5/8″) It was designed to fit the wrist and will be best suited to a small wrist of approximately 16cm to 16.5cm (6 1/4″ to 6 1/2″).
Weighs 10.6 grams.

An old cut diamond is housed in a recessed section and secured with a claw setting. It sits flush with the surface of the bangle. The diamond measures approximately 3mm in diameter.

Condition:
The bangle is in wonderful antique condition with no dents or signs of repair. The hinge is smooth and the catch is secure.
Upon magnification you can see that the diamond has a natural surface reaching inclusion and a chip to the table (Mother was a hard working lass).
The bangle has a beautiful soft patina, but could be polished to a high shine if desired.
