Lucky Skeleton Key : Vintage 9ct Hand Engraved Key Pendant

Sold

This delicately hand engraved key pendant dates to the early 20th Century. The fanciful design incorporates a trefoil to the head of the skeleton key – a symbol of luck. The entire surface of the key is covered in hand engraved detail reminiscent of acanthus leaves.

Manufacture:
Finely handmade in 9ct warm gold and hallmarked 9ct to the reverse. The key measures 43mm top to bottom, including the bail, and is 14mm wide. The key is 0.75mm thick with the bail being much wider – there is 3.5mm clearance to allow for a fancy chain. It weighs 1.5 grams.

Condition:
Originally a brooch, I had my jeweller remove the old pin and catch from the reverse, and add a new loop and bail to the top – his work is outstanding, you’d never know it had been modified. In excellent condition with no wear to any of the elements – a beautifully preserved piece that has been skilfully converted and is ready to be worn and loved.

You can see a little video of this piece on my Instagram @secret_histories, or online here.

*Please note the chain pictured is not included, it is for styling purposes only. If you are looking for a matching chain we would be delighted to help.
