Love & Roses : Art Nouveau Guilloche Heart Pendant on Sterling Silver

♥SOLD♥

Art Nouveau was definitely my first art history crush,  it’s so elegant & flowing yet perfectly balanced. Feminine and delicate in appearance, it gets me right in the feels. This little heart is most unusual – a twist on a classic which is what Art Nouveau is all about. It somehow manages to be ultra feminine and yet contemporary at the same time.

Dating from 1912 it has all those Art Nouveau feels. Sterling silver and flawless guilloche enamel in pearly white and Bristol blue, overlaid with hand painted floral garlands and bows. The enamel is in perfect original condition – it makes you wonder if it has ever been worn.

Fully hallmarked to the reverse with a cartouche for makers J. Aitkin & Sons. I believe this was an export piece made in England for export to America and Australia.

I’ve been trying to find a complimentary chain to match this charming treasure and had some success – you may choose from two options of fine vintage sterling silver chains with your purchase, either a classic fine curb link chain or a more modern ball link chain whose faceted links twinkle in the sunlight. They both suit very well, but change the look of the piece from sweet and sincere to a little edgy. I couldn’t decide which was a better choice so I’ll leave that up to you!

It has had a light polish with a silver polishing cloth, but could be brightened further with a professional polish. Many people prefer the aged patina to be left on antique silver, but I’d be happy to have it professionally polished for you before shipping if requested.

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.
