Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree : Antique 9ct Rose Gold Kookaburra Brooch

Early Australian Made 9ct Kookaburra brooch with turquoise and seed pearls.
A divinely detailed 9ct gold Kookaburra perched on a golden branch. The Kookaburra is covered in hand-carved details and studded with cabochon turquoise and seed pearls. There is a worn hallmark and makers mark to the rear of the brooch, which include the early Australian marks used by jewellers of Victoria of the 9 and wheat sheaf. The makers mark is very worn, but the brooch was most likely made by Duggin Shappere & Co.

There is an old repair to the branch, but it is in otherwise lovely condition.

An endearing example of early Australian jewellery, most likely dating to the Federation of Australia in 1901.
