Hexagons of Snow : Original Art Deco Diamond Ring in 18ct and Platinum Circa 1920

♥Sold♥

The force that makes the winter grow
Its feathered hexagons of snow,
And drives the bee to match at home
Their calculated honeycomb,
Is abacus and rose combined.
An icy sweetness fills my mind,
A sense that under thing and wing
Lies, taut yet living, coiled, the spring.
— Jacob Bronowski

A more perfect Art Deco 5 stone ring I have never seen. Handmade in 18ct yellow gold with a platinum top, the face of the ring is an interlocking suite of geometric shapes, each one defined with milgrain edging and set with a single or “eight cut” diamond. The five natural diamonds are graduated in size with the largest sitting inside a perfect hexagon, the side stones set into concave (irregular) hexagons, and the shoulder stones in small kites.

All the tiny details of this ring that make this one-of-a-kind ring extra special, like the delicately pinched shoulders, the sweet circles in the undercarriage, and of course that crisp milgrain defining each of the polygons. The gemstones are bead set flush with the surface of the ring, making it an ideal everyday ring.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 18ct gold and platinum, hallmarked 18ct & PT to the inside of the band. The face of the ring is platinum, with the undercarriage and band in 18ct gold.

The face of the ring is 3.97mm x 16.5mm wide.
Sits 2.95mm high on the finger.
Weighs 1.95 grams

The five old “eight cut” diamonds are all original to the ring. They are graduated in size: the centre stone is  approximately 3mm in diameter, the sides stones are approximately 2.5mm diameter, and the smallest stones at the shoulders are approximately 1.5mm diameter. The total diamond carat weight is about 1/4 carat.
The diamonds have been verified as natural by an independent gemologist. All of the stones are slightly tinted, the centre stone was graded as K-M in colour, but very clean, all stones are VS-Si in clarity.

The band has pinched shoulders, which gently flare out to a classic half round band. The band is 1.5mm wide and 1.1mm thick.

Size M3/4 or 6.75
Resizable. We do offer a resizing service starting at $45 Australian dollars. Please get in touch for a quote.

Condition:
In excellent antique condition. The only fault to note is some slight thinning to the back of the band, however the ring remains in good wearable condition. Ready for immediate wear.
