Hallmark Magic : Australian Made Wedding Band circa 1926 by Price & Jardine

Sold

This classic 18ct band blew my mind in that nerdy hallmark lovers way. Hiding inside the comfort fit band are tiny Australian hallmarks that hadn’t crossed my path before – the wee kookaburra hallmark briefly used by The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Association of New South Wales, the makers mark for Price & Jardine AND A DATE MARK 🤯, a well worn D for 1926. The hallmarking system was (sadly) not widely used in Australia as it lacked federal support, so there aren’t many hallmark dated pieces in circulation. I am pretty excited to have found this one!

Manufacture:
Made in 18ct yellow gold with the classic convex profile on the outside, and the bevelled convex or “comfort fit” shape to the inside of the band, this extremely well made piece was intended to never leave the finger. Hallmarked to the inside with the makers mark PJP, a kookaburra, 18 and a well worn NSW date mark D for the year 1926.
The band is 2.5mm wide, 1.5mm thick and weighs 2.2grams.

Size L or 6
resizable but please do take care of the hallmarks.

Condition:
In beautiful vintage (almost antique!) condition with gentle wear commensurate with age and use. In excellent condition and ready for immediate, everyday wear.
