Gentle Waves : Mid-Century Sterling Bracelet with Apatite Inlay

Sold

A substantial and finely made Mexican sterling silver sectional bracelet dating to the 1950’s, inlaid with alternating trapezoids in blue and green apatite. Each section is gently curved, the combined effect is of a gentle wave. The sections are linked via hinges, all of which are in perfect condition. The box clasp is secure and easy to use, even with one hand. The safety chain is original and in excellent vintage condition. Overall the bracelet is in excellent vintage condition, with very little sign of wear and no damage.

The deeply saturated blue and green apatite gemstones can easily be mistaken for turquoise and lapis, but my gemologist assures me that all the pieces of gemstone are carefully chosen and precisely cut pieces of the lesser known but equally beautiful apatite.

The inside of the band has several hallmarks, one of which is too rubbed to read. The remaining marks read “Mexico” “Sterling Taxco” and “122” Mexican silver hallmarks are an area I have little experience with – unfortunately I have not been able to learn the maker for this piece, however the other hallmarks do date the piece to the 1950’s, mid-century era.

The bracelet has an inside diameter of 19cm or 7.5″
It is 9.3mm wide and 2.4mm thick.
Weighs a heavy 34.5 grams
It has been XRF tested to verify that it is indeed 925 Sterling Silver.

Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
