Etherial Loveliness : Art Deco Violet Sapphire Solitaire Ring in 18ct and Platinum

♥Sold♥

Dating to the 1920’s the highlight of this charming ring is a cushion cut light violet solitaire in a sweet coronet setting. On either side old cut diamonds are set into platinum arrows with milgrain edging, drawing your attention to the etherial loveliness of the violet sapphire.

Violet or purple sapphires are amongst the “fancy” coloured sapphires and are rare and sought after, especially in antique jewellery. The hue in this sweet sapphire is particularly lovely and unlike any other gemstone.

Manufacture:
Handmade in 18ct yellow gold with platinum shoulders, the central natural sapphire is held securely in a coronet setting, with four old cut diamonds grain set into the platinum shoulders. The band is a classic half round shape. Hallmarked 18ct with makers mark S.J. to the inside of the band, the metals have been verified by XRF test.

The old cut, round light violet sapphire has been verified as natural by an independent gemologist. It measures approximately 5mm in diameter – about 50 points or 1/2 of a carat.

The diamonds in the shoulders are old cut with a total diamond carat weight of 12 points.

The face of the ring measures 14mm x 6mm, tapering to 2.5mm at the back of the band. The band is 1.4mm thick.
Sits 4.3mm high on the finger.
Weighs 3 grams.

Size P1/2 or 8
somewhat resizable by your local bench jeweller.

Condition:
In lovely antique condition. I have had the prongs re-tipped and all settings checked. One of the shoulder diamonds has a small chip, only visible under magnification. Otherwise in excellent antique condition, ready for immediate and everyday wear.
