Lovers of the Four Diamond C’s look away, lest ye be offended. This old dame is not for you.

Lovers of old diamonds that ooze class and character, please follow me. I have something special to show you…

A spectacular early Australian diamond cluster ring, Made by Aronson & Co. of Melbourne circa 1890 – 1910. 18ct yellow gold with a platinum top and a combined diamond carat weight of 64 points!

Manufacture:
Made in 18ct yellow gold, the setting features a decorative hand pierced gallery to allow the maximum amount of light to reach the diamonds for an abundance of sparkle, and a platinum top for additional strength and to show off the colour of the diamonds.

The half-round band has pinched shoulders that flow up to the round coronet setting. A crisp hallmark for 18ct and platinum is found on the inside of the band, along with the little flag for Australian jewellers Aronson and Co, who traded from 1878 – 1947.

The nine diamonds that make up the cluster have all been certified as natural by an independent gemologist. All of the stones have outstanding clarity, but are an ombré of warmer hues with a fancy yellow diamond in the mix! When this ring was made the “four c’s” of diamond grading had yet to be invented and these stones would have been prized for the outstanding adamantine sparkle above all else.

The centre stone centre diamond is an ‘old cut’ diamond with a fairly small culet. It measures approximately 28 points ( 4.3mm diameter ) and is Si in clarity, K-M in colour.

The surrounding stones are ‘old Swiss cut’, also very clear without any eye visible inclusions, and have been arranged around the central stone in a gentle ombre of faint yellow hues leading to the fancy yellow diamond. It’s a really remarkable effect, warm and cosy and very different! Each of the old Swiss cut diamonds is approximately 2mm in diameter, for a combined carat weight of 64 points – almost 2/3 of a carat.

The face of the ring measures 9.7mm in diameter and sits 5.7mm high on the finger. It weighs 2.2 grams.

Size N1/2 or 7
resizable within reason

Condition:
In lovely antique condition with gentle signs of wear. There is a little thinning to the back of the band, but nothing that should raise any eyebrows.
Ready for immediate and everyday wear – now and for decades to come.
