Dew Drops : Antique Aquamarine Drop Necklace made in the Early 1900s

♥Sold♥

A divinely elegant drop necklace dating to the first years of the 20th Century, the style is typical of the work by the early Australian jewellers of this era. Whimsical and classically elegant, this necklace would make an excellent choice as a bridal jewel. You’ll have no trouble wearing it regularly after the big day – it looks outstanding when worn with jeans and a white shirt, or your favourite summery dress.

Manufacture:
The necklace is modelled in 9ct yellow gold creating a simple framework for the seven aquamarine gemstones to shine. Three oval aquamarines are coronet set along a slender gold semi-circle, with a long drop suspended beneath each stone, finishing with a pear cut aquamarine. The centre drop holds another small aquamarine at the half-way point. The coronet settings allow the maximum amount of light to penetrate the icy blue gemstones for the greatest scintillation possible. The piece is stamped with the 9c hallmark on each drop.

The necklace measures 47.82mm from the left aquamarine to the right, the centre drop is 53.5mm long.
It weighs 6 grams

Each of the natural aquamarines is slightly different in shape and size (although perfectly matched in hue). They are all eye clean, bright and lively stones in excellent antique condition. They have been verified as natural aquamarines by an independent gemologist.
The approximate sizes are as follows (measured in the setting):
Centre oval – 5.7mm x 9.4mm x 3.2mm
Centre pear – 14.5mm x 5.07mm x 3.2mm
Centre transition – 4.97mm x 3.08mm x 2.6mm

For a total weight of approximately 4.75 carats
