Delicate Romance : Late Georgian Colombian Emerald and Pearl Ring in 18ct Gold

♥Sold♥

A sweet and delicate handmade ring circa 1830 – 1840 featuring a central table cut Colombian emerald flanked by two natural pearls in cut down collets and decorated with small beads. At the shoulders little golden flowers bloom above two granulated beads.

This transitional period at the tail end of the Georgian Era and the very early years of the Victorian Era were highly influenced by the restoration of the French Monarchy in 1815, and Paris was considered to be the arbiter of fine taste. The style of the time transitioned from simple Neoclassical design to the highly decorative Romantic Period. This lovely piece is evidence of that transition in style. Emeralds were highly desired at his time, but gems of good colour were scarce & paste was often used in its place.

This example is in astonishingly beautiful condition, there are no signs of repairs or resizing. She has been treasured and carefully cared for over the last 190 years.

The natural Colombian emerald has been verified by a gemologist of over 20 years experience. It is a modified table cut measuring 3mm x 2.7mm (in the setting).
The emerald is flanked by two beautiful natural pearls with their full nacre, each pearl has a diameter of 2.8mm

There are no hallmarks present, as was customary for this period, however the ring has been XRF tested as solid 18ct gold throughout.
