Declaration of Love : Art Nouveau Tulip Charm in 9ct Gold

♥Sold♥

A sweet gold charm from the Art Nouveau period circa 1900. A spray of tulips are bordered within a circlet of gold. The flowers are beautifully stylised and wonderfully detailed.

In my antique copy of “Floriography: The secret language of flowers” published in 1880 the secret meaning of every flower is described, right down to the nuance of a yellow rose vs a pink one.
Tulips, the book asserts, are “a declaration of love” – the type of love being declared is hidden in the colour of the petals. We have to imagine the colour of this tulip, so it might be the perfect gift for your Mum or work wife or anyone else that you’d like to acknowledge holding a special spot in your heart 💞
